Marist will celebrate the arts in April with a series of events showcasing student talent.
The band will offer two spring concerts. On Saturday, April 14 the group will perform at 7pm and again at 3pm on Sunday, April 15. The concert will take place in the school's main gym. Tickets are $5 per person and will be sold at the door. The group will be fresh from its tour through Washington, DC, where the students performed and took in the historical sites. The concert will feature American folk music, a circus march, classic rock, and highlights from the Jersey Boys musical, among other pieces.
The decorated speech and acting team will hold a showcase performance on Friday, April 20 at 8pm in the RedHawk Theater. Team members will perform pieces from a variety of categories. Admission is $5 per person with all proceeds going towards the team's trip to nationals in Washington, DC in May.
The senior art show will take place on Thursday, April 26 from 6 to 8pm in the Murphy Art Center. It will feature student photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, graphic design, and broadcasting. The seniors have been diligently working to complete their portfolios for this always-popular event. A sneak peek of the work is available here. The event is free.
Also on Thursday, April 26, the Brothers Chapel will be filled with the sounds of the season. The string ensemble will begin the evening with a performance at 6pm. Just down the hall in the RedHawk Theater the chorus will perform at 7pm. Both events are free and attendees should enter through the main office doors at the west end of the building. A senior solo choral concert will be held May 8.
April events will wrap up with the orchesis showcase “A Night at the Show” in the RedHawk Theater. Tickets are $5 and available at the door. Students have been rehearsing for weeks in preparation for this dance performance.
