Congratulations to the girls cross country team and boys team member Kyle O'Farrell '16 on a great showing at the IHSA state final on Saturday, November 7.
The girls team, for the first time in program history, advanced as a team to the state final from a high competitive sectional held as Kress Creek. At the state race in Peoria, the team finished an impressive 16th, running against some state powerhouses. MaryClare Leonard led the way for the RedHawks, finishing in the top 30. Also running were Jill Borza, Hope Orsi, Bridget McDermott, Catherine Viz, Carlin McNulty, Nora Doyle, and Colleen Murphy.
Senior Kyle O'Farrell emerged from the sectional to run as an individual. At state, his four years of training paid off, as he finished 70th out of more than 200 of the best Illinois runners. Kyle completed his high school cross country career with a time of 15:48; a personal record!
Many thanks to the cross country teammates, alumni and Rowdies who came out to support the runners! Congrats to Kyle, the girls, coaches, and parents!
