Attention Seniors,

 

Are you planning on attending Moraine Valley in the Fall? Or would you like to take a summer course there before going away to college?

 

A representative from Moraine Valley Community College will be here at Marist on Thursday, February 22nd to help you register and answer any questions. Please sign up for an appointment during either your study hall or lunch mod. The sign up sheet is on the door of the Guidance Office Conference Room.

ALL FRESHMAN TRYING OUT FOR A SPRING SPORT, YOU DO NOT NEED A SPORTS PHYSICAL.

 

ALL SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR AND SENIORS TRYING OUT FOR A SPRING SPORT, YOU NEED A CURRENT PHYSICAL ON FILE IN THE ATHLETIC OFFICE.

 

Practice ACT Test

On Saturday, March 10th, Marist will offer a Practice ACT Test to interested juniors and sophomores.

This is an actual retired ACT test so it will give you an excellent idea of what you can expect on the real ACT test. However, you will not be taking the writing portion.

Sign up for the practice test with Mrs. Gainer in the Guidance Office. The cost is $10.00 and money needs to be turned in when you sign up for the test. You will be unable to sign up without your payment. The test will start at 8:30 am and you should be done with testing and self-scoring by noon.

The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, February 21st.

Attention all Bulls fans and speech team enthusiasts! The Marist Speech and Acting team will be raffling off a set of Bulls tickets for the March 5 game against the Celtics. Four seats in rows E and D in section 107 will be raffled off. These floor seats also come with a parking pass. The price is $3 for one ticket, $5 for 2 tickets, and $10 for 5tickets. We have EXTENDED the raffle and the winning ticket will be drawn on Friday, February 23. See Ms. Paoletti in Room 128 or any of the Speech and Acting team members to purchase. 

Clubs

 

Calling all Cooking Club Members! Group 1 will meet this Thursday, February 22, at 2:30 in the CAFE. Any questions? See Ms. Silva.

 

SADD Club will meet immediately after school today in room 209.  See you then!

 

The Marist Technology Club is raffling off a Gaming PC. Everything you need to get yourself online and in the game!  You can buy tickets during lunch mods this week through Thursday.  The winner will be drawn during the Rally on Friday.  Tickets are $2 for one, $5 for four, or $10 for ten!

 

You can’t win if you don’t buy! Good luck to everyone.

Sports

Marist wrestling competed in the IHSA Individual State Finals this past weekend. Michael Leveille and Jacob Dado each earned all-state honors by placing in their respective weight classes. Leveille finished the season 6th in state at 106 lbs. and Dado captured 3rd place at 138 lbs.

 

There is practice immediately after school in the wrestling room for all wrestlers competing in the freshman/sophomore state series. Regionals are this Saturday.

 

On Friday night, the boys basketball team defeated St. Patrick's 59 - 43. The RedHawks are now 23-4 on the season.

 

Please come out and support the RedHawks in their final game of the season, our Senior Night, this Wednesday vs. Marian Central. Game time is 7 PM. We will be honoring the seven great seniors in our class: Conor, Morgan, David, Tristan, Jack, Ravi, and Taylor. Come out and support your RedHawks!

 

Attention to everyone interested in trying out for softball: there will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, February 20th at 2:25 p.m. in Room 130. See Coach Biebel if you cannot make it.

 

Volleyball open gym will be today and tomorrow after school.

The Girls Varsity Basketball Team lost last night, in the semi-sectional game 68-47. The ladies ended their season with a 23-7 record and a Regional Title. Thank you to all our students, faculty and administration for your support last night at the game and throughout the year. 

Congratulations to Abby Callahan of the girls varsity basketball team, Abby will be shooting this Thursday before the sectional final game in the 3-point shooting contest to advance downstate. Good Luck Abby!
