27 RedHawk journalists attended the 27th annual Scholastic Press Association of Chicago/McCormick Foundation High School Media Conference and Awards Ceremony hosted by Roosevelt University-Chicago yesterday. The Marist Sentinel won superior achievement for overall newspaper and excellent achievement for overall layout. Individual journalists winning excellent achievement awards included seniors Stephanie Kozlowski for community story writing and special coverage, Gianna Miritello for feature writing, Jocelyn Diaz for news writing and juniors Gina Musso for sports news writing, Jenna Fessler for sports photography and Emma Brown for non-sports photography. Over 30 RedHawks have won awards for excellence at this conference and competition since 2012.
Congratulations RedHawk journalists and a huge thank you to English teacher Mrs. Natalie Holder for serving as a chaperone for the trip.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 9th, is a LATE START….not an EARLY DISMISSAL….classes will begin at 8:35 AM just like every other Friday.
The Athletic wing including the cafeteria will be closed to ALL students this Friday after school in preparation for the Alumni Dinner and Awards that are taking place in the cafeteria on Friday night.
Athletes WHO HAVE PRACTICES SCHEDULED may stay in the building for their practices. All other students need to vacate the building.
If you are getting picked up later than the end of the school day, then the ARC will be open until 5 PM as always – that is the only space that will be open to students on Friday afternoon.

Last night the Girls Track and Field team competed at Hinsdale South High School. Individual scores include Kaylin Strayhan in the 300 meters, Grace Stinites in the 3200, Fiona Murphy and Maddie Smith in the 800, Nora Poole and Eirin O'Sullivan in the 400, and Megan Kelly in the 1600, Karen Folan in hurdles. Event Champions include Rory Curry in the HJ and LJ, Sarah Hughes in the 1600, Lilly Roche in the 3200, Peyton Ross in the Hurdles, and the 4x800 relay team.
