Final senior prom payments are due to the SLO this Friday.  Do not drop money off at the business office they will only be accepted in the SLO.

 

Junior prom tables will be posted this week.  If you did not fill out a table form you will be placed at a random table.

 

Friday is a RedHawk Rowdy dress down day for the spring sports rally.

 

Joe Flamm graduated from Marist in 2004. And he just won season 15 of Top Chef! If you want to be like Joe, stop by the ARC and check out our fantastic cookbook display! Try out something new and delicious!

Mock Trial will meet tonight at 6pm in room 113. Check your e-mail for the assignment. New members are welcome. See Mrs. McArdle for more information.

Permission slips for the trip to Northwestern Medicine on April 26th are due to Explore office by Wednesday. Stop by for a copy of the permission slip or more details.

Save the Date! There will be a meeting to discuss enrollment information for next year's college trip to the East Coast on Wednesday, May 2nd at 7pm in room 113. Check your e-mail later today or see Mrs. McArdle for more information.

The NHS meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled due to AP registration. 

 

The cafeteria will be closed after school today and tomorrow for AP registration.

 

ATTENTION ALL JUNIOR MEMBERS OF THE SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Juniors, are looking to show your love for Hispanic culture in a leadership role? The officer application is due Thursday, April 19th. See Showbie for more details. We are holding elections right after school on Monday, April 23rd in Rm 211. Feel free to ask any of our senior officers or Senora Nathan-Gamauf with any questions!

 

Attention students on scholarship with service hour requirements.  This is a reminder that your service hour paperwork is due in 3 weeks by Friday, May 4th.  Please see Mrs. Maloney if you have any questions.

 

Marist will host its first ever Champagnat Day Wednesday, April 18.  As part of the 24-hour giving event, students can dress down for a $5 donation that will be collected during homeroom.  Your shirt or sweatshirt must be a Marist shirt. If at least 400 students participate on Wednesday, a Marist alum will contribute $5,000 to the Marist Fund. 

 

You can also participate in Champagnat Day through the selfie challenges on Wednesday.  The best selfies in select categories will win fun prizes!  Check out the Marist website or social media pages for details.  And, we will be playing Champagnat Trivia on Tuesday during lunch mods.  Winning tables will receive free pizzas on Wednesday…and everyone will receive a free cookie!

 

The Marist Speech and Acting Team will host its 4th annual showcase this Friday, April 20th at 8 PM in the RedHawk Theatre. The showcase will feature performances from our talented National qualifiers. Admission is $5, and all proceeds will go toward the team’s trip to Nationals in May. We will also be raffling off a pair of tickets to the Cubs-Sox game on May 11. Raffle tickets are $3 for 1, $5 for 2, and $10 for 5. The winner will be drawn at the showcase. See Ms. Paoletti in Room 128 or any of the speech kids to purchase. 

 

Marist's boxing club will host fight night on Friday, April 20 at 7pm in the main gym. Club members have been training for months and are excited to enter the ring. Admission is free for Marist students, $5 for non-Marist students, and $10 for adults. 

Sports

All boys interested in the summer soccer camp or leagues offered, please see Coach Maxwell for a registration form.  The forms are due back by Thursday, April 19th.  The camp will be in early June and leagues will run in June and July.  Please see Coach Maxwell in room 106 for the registration form.

The boys volleyball team hosts Lincoln way west in a matchup of top 5 teams tomorrow night at 6pm, come out to cheer on the program!

Last Tuesday, the Marist Boys Track and Field TEAM, upset Benet Academy, the defending conference champions, by an official score of 90 to 87. On Friday, Thomas Leonard BROKE THE SOPHOMORE SCHOOL RECORD (Dan Cole, 1983, 9:51.8) to win the Oak Lawn Spartan Invitational 3200m run with a personal best time of 9:42.06. Leonard dropped 26 seconds off his best time (10:08), and was awarded a MEDAL for winning the 3200m run. The record lasted 35 years, and Alumni legend Dan Cole sent his congratulations to Thomas Leonard. At the Spartan Invitational, Jovan Marsh won the 200m dash, and earned 3 Medals in the meet, Lucas Pennix finished second in the 1600m, Justin Williams finished in second in the Long Jump, and David Daniels finished third in the Triple Jump. The RedHawks scored 76 points, and posted victories over Richards, Tinley Park, Illiana Christian, Kankakee, Bremen, and Fenger.
