January 6, 2017
The second semester of your child’s junior year is underway, and with it comes two special events. Included in this packet is information on the Junior Class Mass on Sunday, March 5 and the Junior Prom on Saturday, April 8. We ask that you review the information and respond by the indicated dates.
All junior families are encouraged to attend the Junior Class Mass on March 5 to celebrate with the Class of 2018. This year, our Junior Class Mass will be celebrated at 3:00pm at St. Terrence Church, located at 4300 W 119th Pl, Alsip, IL 60803. This mass signifies being a part of the Marist family past, present and future. Herff Jones rings will also be distributed to those students who have purchased one.
Student Council will sponsor the Marist Junior Prom at Gaelic Park on Saturday, April 8. The cost of the Junior Prom is $140.00 per couple. Marist Junior Prom is a semi-formal event – we ask that gentlemen wear a coat and tie and that ladies wear dresses. Please take note of the updated dress code included in this packet! Tuxedos and limousines are not permitted at this event. The prom ticket (which is included in this packet) must be returned to the Student Life Office with payment by Friday, March 10.
In an effort to partner with our school families to keep our juniors healthy and safe, we ask that any pre or post-prom gatherings be supervised by parents. Throughout the school year, we have made efforts to educate and empower both students and parents with information on the consequences of underage drinking, and as this event nears, we remind both groups of the legal implications involved. Please join Marist High School in encouraging and supporting your children in making smart choices as they enjoy the evening of their Junior Prom!
