Today we celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. God chose Mary to be the Mother of His Son. God preserved Mary from the stain of original sin from the moment of her conception. Thus, Mary was the first to receive the benefit of the redemption that her Son would merit for all. Like Mary, we can continually strive to say yes to God’s call to embody his Son, Jesus, and to bring him to others. (Loyola Press)
Mary’s sinlessness comes not only by grace but by her cooperation with it!
She says yes to her role in giving birth to the Son of God, and she says yes to her role at the foot of his cross trusting in his Resurrection.
May we, like our Good Mother, be always trusting and open to “cooperating” with God’s grace so that throughout our lives we may joyfully say YES to God’s presence in our every decision and action.
