What’s going on?
The other day a friend asked me, “What’s going on with the holy water fonts in the Chapel?” When you stop by there you’ll notice that the water has been replaced with sand… and the reason is three-fold.
First of all, sand in a bowl where there is usually water reminds us that something is different about where we are and what time of the year it is. Secondly, the sand reminds us that Lent is not a walk in the park, it’s a walk in the desert… where it’s common to feel bone dry and thirsty. Thirdly and most importantly, it reminds us to look forward during Lent. The water will be back after Easter when we can once again celebrate the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection and His promise of life-giving water that awaits us all.
