Marist High School's Guidance Department will host a series of three workshops for parents and community members aimed at empowering parents to foster respect, responsibility, resilience, and self-reliance in their children.
The next workshop will be held on Saturday, January, 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the ARC (library). The format will be a discussion-based process that will allow parents to interact with each other as they proactively anticipate and plan for situations that may affect their teen during the high school years. Topics may include friendship, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, self-confidence, and anxiety and depression. A continental breakfast will be provided.
The theme of the 2018-2019 workshop series is based on Sean Covey's bestseller The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. Each workshop will feature one to two habits interwoven with practical parenting strategies.
The first session was held on Thursday, October 11. Parents do not have to have attended the first session to attend the second. The final session will take place on Thursday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
The workshops are open to current and incoming Marist parents and all community members. Attendees are asked to register in advance and should enter at the main office at the west end of the campus, 4200 West 115th Street in Chicago.
