Marist boys' track captains Brian Ferguson and Thomas Leonard qualified for the IHSA State Track and Field Championships.
Brian Ferguson won his second consecutive IHSA sectional title in the 400m dash to qualify for the state championships. Thomas Leonard outkicked a runner from Lyons in the final 300m of the 3200m run to finish second place and also qualify.
Marist IHSA sectional medal winners included: Jamari Grant (3rd place, Triple Jump), Carter Auer (4th place, High Jump), Tucker Miller (5th place - 100m dash, 6th place 4x200m Relay), Keyon Turner (6th place, 4x200m Relay), Michael Coy (6th place, 4x200m Relay), Nick Coccaro (6th place, 4x200m Relay), Andrew Kerlin (5th place, 4x800m Relay), Caleb Davis (5th place, 4x800m Relay), Alexis Arreola (5th place, 4x800m Relay), and Lucas Pennix (5th place, 4x800m Relay).
Brian Ferguson and Thomas Leonard will travel to the IHSA state championships on Thursday, May 23, 2019 and compete on Friday.
