Marist's girls' tennis team advanced five players to this week's IHSA state final starting Thursday.
Competing for the RedHawks at singles will be senior Nicole Micklin, who is a sectional champion for the second straight year. The doubles teams of Kat Balchunas '20 and Bella Rabianski '20 and Molly Malloy '22 and Sonya Dremak '21 will also compete.
The team was the runner up in the competitive sectional and also placed second in the East Suburban Catholic Conference championship. It has been a banner season for the program that included 13-straight winning streak.
The 2A IHSA tournament will take place starting on Thursday, October 24 with first round matches beginning at 9 a.m. Play continues throughout the day in two separate brackets: singles and doubles. If one or both advance at the end of Thursday for Marist, the RedHawks continue play on Friday at 9 a.m. The tournament will be spread out at several outdoor locations in the Arlington Heights and Schaumburg area.
