Marist athletes to take the plunge

ploarAlderman Matt O'Shea of Chicago's 19th Ward put out a challenge to local high schools to take the Polar Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Chicago. Marist was the first to step up.

Members of the football and rugby teams will face the icy waters of Lake Michigan on Sunday, March 5. There will be a paid dress down day for students on Friday, March 3. Proceeds from that day and any donations made directly to a Marist individual plunge participant or the group will go to the Special Olympics Chicago. The boys are also selling t-shirts for $10. Proceeds from the sales will benefit three organizations valued by Marist employees who have children with special needs.

Juniors Delonte Harrell, TJ Ivy, and Gavin McCabe made a special appearance on WGN's Midday News on Monday to promote this great event.
