Volleyball heads to state


Marist garnered the IHSA Class 4A third place trophy on Saturday, November 16 after defeating Fremd High School. The RedHawks battled Benet Academy on Friday, November 15 in the state semifinal, but fell to the Redwings. The two teams are among the top ten in the nation.  

Marist girls' volleyball team won its third straight super-sectional on Friday, November 8 against Sandburg. The team captured the sectional title with a win over McAuley. They defeated Argo in the sectional semifinal. The team captured the regional title with wins over Proviso East and Stagg. 

The team finishes the season 39-3. They won the elite Circus City Invitational in Florida and the ASICS Challenge in Chicago. They finished second in the Wheaton Classic. They were ranked number one in the state and number seven in the nation. 

Earlier in the week, seniors Camryn Hannah (Clemson University), Mairead Boyle (Western Michigan University), and Maddie Arundel (Ferris State University) signed National Letters of Intent to continue at the college level. The future is bright for the program with nine varsity players returning, including two current freshmen and a sophomore. All three level teams clinched the East Suburban Catholic Conference title.
