Wrestlers head to state

Update: 

2/16: Dado had a tough loss in the second round to Heller but rebounded with a win against Juan Rivera (38-12) of Glenbard North. He will face Giovanni Cassioppi (39-8) of Hononegah. 

Leveille defeated Kaminski and will face Josh Koderhandt (41-8) of Belleville West. 

2/15: Leveille lost in first round to Jake Rundell (39-2) of Oak Park River Forest. He faces Sawyer Nash (34-7) of Warren HS in first round wrestlebacks.

Dado won the first round over John Ridle (29-6) of Jacobs HS. He faces Holden Heller (15-0) of Marian Catholic in quarterfinals.

This session starts at 1:30 with quarterfinals first. 

Marist wrestlers Jacob Dado and Michael Leveille will represent the RedHawks at this week's IHSA individual state tournament which will be held at State Farm Center in Champaign, Ill.  

Dado enters the tournament with a 39-5 record and competes at 138lbs. This is a second consecutive trip to state for Dado, who finished fourth in state in 2017. Leveille holds a 35-9 record in the 106lbs. weight class. Both were regional champs this season. Dado took third place at the Hinsdale Central sectional February 10, while Leveille finished in fourth place.

State competition begins Thursday, February 16 at 5pm. Quarterfinals and wrestlebacks will start at approximately 1:30pm on Friday, while semifinal championships will begin at 7pm. On Saturday quarterfinal and semifinal wrestlebacks will take place at 9am and 11am, respectively, and third through sixth place matches start at 1pm. The grand march and championship matches begin at 5:30pm starting at 106lbs. 

Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults for each session. There are five sessions in total during the weekend. A discounted weekend ticket is available. All tickets are sold at the door.
