Friday: Leville won his match and advances to the semifinals against Josh Koderhandt of Belleville West. He defeated Noah Beltrand of Maine South in round one and Austin Spacht of Maine South in round two. Dunlap wins in wrestlebacks against Brian Beers of Barrington H.S. Duda wins in wrestlebacks against Jeremy Jakowitsch of Huntley. Nowling defeats Justin Brown from Grant H.S. Sophomore Mateen Taylor ends his sophomore season as a state qualifier.
Thursday: Leville won. Duda, Taylor, Dunlap, and Nowling lost. They all keep wrestling on Friday.
Marist wrestling will be represented by five athletes at the IHSA individual state final February 14 through 16 in Champaign, Ill. Jacob Dado '19 (138lbs.), Owen Dunlap '22 (106lbs.), Michael Leveille '19 (113lbs.), Kendric Nowling '19 (182lbs.), and Mateen Taylor '21 (126lbs.) advanced to meet.
State competition begins Thursday, February 14 at 4:30 p.m. Quarterfinals and wrestlebacks will start at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Friday, while second round wrestlebacks start at 1:30 p.m. Semifinal championships will begin at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday quarterfinal and semifinal wrestlebacks will take place at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, and third through sixth place matches start at 1 p.m. The grand march and championship matches begin at 5:30pm starting at 113lbs. The state finals are held at the State Farm Center. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for adults for each session. There are five sessions in total during the weekend. A discounted weekend ticket is available. All tickets are sold at the door. Tournament details are available from the IHSA. The tournament will be streamed via NFHS Network.
