Clubs

Spanish Club will be throwing a New Year and Three Kings Day celebration. We will have Rosca de Reyes or Three Kings Cake, a 12 grape eating contest, and there will be tamales! The event will take place after school on Thursday in room 220.

Sports

The girl' varsity basketball team competed well over break. They came in 2nd in the State Farm Christmas Classic in Bloomington, winning 3 out of 4 games. Syd Affolter was named to the All-Tournament Team. Also, varsity won the championship in the first inaugural "Grow the Game" Tournament, beating Whitney Young. Jenna Ryan and Syd Affolter were selected All-Tournament. The RedHawks are now 15-3 for the season.

The girls' varsity basketball team plays neighborhood rival Mother McAuley tonight at Marist. The Sophs and Fresh play at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity and Freshman B play at 6:30 p.m. Please come out and support your RedHawks. 

The varsity wrestling team had a busy and successful holiday. They competed in the prestigious Dvorak tournament, considered to be the top tournament in Illinois, where they finished 10th out of 32 teams. Place winners were, 8th place Mateen Taylor, 5th place Tommy Boland, 4th place Owen Dunlap and in 3rd place Ghee Rachel. The wrestlers then traveled to Granite City for a 24-team tournament featuring the best teams in Missouri and the Midwest, where they finished in 7th place. Place winners for the RedHawks were, 8th place Bobby Gaylord and Andrew Dado, 6th place Tommy Munoz, 5th place Tommy Boland, 4th place Jake Liberatore, and 2nd place winners were Owen Dunlap and Ghee Rachal. The wrestlers return home on Thursday, January 9 to take on 6th rated in 2A Joliet Catholic at 6pm. Come out and support your RedHawks.
