Save the Date for the next Hawk Talk on Wednesday, February 27th. Dr. Jason Guerro '97 will discuss not giving up, following your passion, and his career in dentistry. This event is hosted by EVOLVE and Explore and takes place in the main office conference room. Pizza and cookies will be served for those who sign up in advance by e-mailing Mrs. McArdle.
On Thursday, 2/28, Nabal Jefferson '09 will share his experience being a D1 football player at Northern Illinois as well as his career in accounting. This Hawk Talk is co-sponserd by EVOLVE and Explore, lease join us after school in room 200 at 2:30 on Thursday.

This Marist Speech and Acting Team had a great weekend hosting the Chicago Catholic Forensic League National Qualifier! Eleven students advanced to final rounds, with three individual champions: Kaylen Baker in Declamation, Emma Ortega in Prose/Verse, and Kristen Kolp in Original Oratory. Nine students qualified for Nationals in Milwaukee: Kaylen Baker, Maurice Brooks, Una Fortier, Maddy Jaworek, Kristen Kolp, Elaina Miller, Emma Ortega, and Sarah Peck. Sophie Bouck, Owen Gainer, CeCe Gibbons, and Sam Ekhart qualified as alternates. The team placed FIRST overall! Great job everyone!
Attention all Bulls fans and speech team enthusiasts! The Marist Speech and Acting team will be raffling off a set of Bulls tickets for the March 30 game against the Clippers. Four seats in rows E and D in section 107 will be raffled off. These floor seats also come with a parking pass. The price is $3 for one ticket, $5 for 2 tickets, and $10 for 5 tickets. The winning ticket will be drawn Friday, March 8. See Ms. Paoletti in Room 128, Mr. Distasio, or any of the Speech and Acting team members to purchase.

Spanish Club: ¡Feliz Carnaval! This Friday the 1st is the Spanish Club Carnaval. You must wear something to "hide your identity" like a costume and be ready to join the fun. We will be discussing many of our projects: Hearts in Motion, Corazon a Corazon & the St Ben’s Confirmation Retreat, plus details on our shirt. This past weekend the RedHawk freshmen and sophomore wrestlers competed at the Frosh-Soph State Regionals at Richards High School. Wrestlers advancing to the Sectionals next week at Shepard High School are, finishing in fourth place; Michael Bartolotta, Cameron Ford and Lucas Panazzo. Finishing in second place; Omar Rizek, Bobby Gaylord and Ghee Rachel, and winning the Regional Championship were; Ethan Bednarczyk, Tommy McAuliffe and Tommy Boland. Congratulations, wrestlers, and good luck next week at the Sectional Tournament.

There will be a brief wrestling meeting after school on Wednesday, February 27 for information on the banquet and off-season workouts. ALL wrestlers must attend. The meeting will end by 2:50. Thank you.
There will be a boys’ volleyball open gym on Wednesday from 7-8:30pm. Boy’s volleyball tryouts begin next Monday, March 4th. Freshmen tryouts 3-5 in the main gym. Sophomores, juniors and seniors 5-7pm. See Coach Vidovic with questions.
The Marist Boys Track and Field Team traveled to Lewis University on Sunday for the ICOPS Invitational. The Meet featured 24 High Schools. The RedHawks upset the defending ESCC Conference Champions, Benet Academy, by six points! Marist Junior Brian Ferguson WON the 400m dash. Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh finished in second place in the 55m Dash. Marist Freshman Tucker Miller finished sixth in the 55m Dash. The Marist 4x200m Relay (Tucker Miller, Michael Coy, Antoine Davis, Kivonte Houston) also earned a MEDAL by finishing in fifth place overall. Marist Sophomore Kevin Bugos finished in sixth place in the 800m run. Marist Junior Thomas Leonard finished fourth in the 3200m (9:55) and fifth in the 1600m (4:31). Marist Freshman Andrew Kerlin broke the five minute barrier in the 1600m with a 4:56. Marist Sophomore Jovan Marsh finished fourth in the 200m dash. The RedHawks will compete next at the Lincoln Way Central Invitational next Saturday.
Last Saturday, at the Lockport Invitational the women’s track and field team finished in third place defeating Stagg, Rich East, Andrew, Payton, and Morgan Park.
- Medaling were Kaylin Strahan and Laurel Spatz in the 60m;
- Emilia Masnica in the 400, Cece Light and Nora McNicholas in the 1600;
- Ashlin Palzkill, Payton Ross and Grace Misiunas in the high hurdles;
- Maya Drayton in the shot-put;
- Yasmine Evans and Grace Misiunas in the high jump;
- Kaitlyn O’Brien and Eirinn O’Sullivan in the pole vault; and
- 4 x 200 relay of Misiunas, Palzkill, Melancon, and Strahan took 2nd. Good job, ladies!
