It’s for the girls!  Take your Mom our for brunch, shopping, and a fashion show for Mother’s Day.  Think Pink is May 5 from 11-2 and tix are $10.  See Mrs. Pochyly in the SLO to reserve Tickets!

Parking applications for the 2019-20 school year are due on WEDNESDAY, April 17th at 3 PM. Applications should be turned in at the Main Office.  If you need an application, there are copies in the Main Office.   Please note that if you have unserved detentions you will be ineligible for a parking space.

Anyone interested in eating, dancing and brightening up someone’s day?  Come help at the Senior Citizens Prom on May 19.  Come to the SLO and see Mrs. Pochyly for a permission form!

Save the Date for Career Fair! It is Friday, April 26th before school from 7-8:20 in Hynes Gym. There will be Marist alumni and professionals in a range of fields from medicine to engineering to business and everything in between. Donuts and coffee will be served. 

 

Any student who is 16 years old is invited to attend camp in Esopus New York this summer.  This is your opportunity to work as a counselor with students from other Marist Schools in the US! See Mrs. Pochyly for details!

Would you like to spend next year’s spring break seeing the sights of Paris, having dinner on the Eiffel Tower, cruising down the Seine River, visiting the Palace at Versailles, enjoying a morning excursion to the top of the world with the nearly 7,000 feet ascent to the summit of Mt. Pilatus, and relaxing on a cruise around Lake Lucerne in Switzerland?  How about crossing the border into Germany and entering the dream castle that served as the model for Sleeping Beauty’s castle, while finishing the week by exploring Munich, Germany and taking an excursion to the concentration camp at Dachau?  Register by May 15th in order to get a $175.00 early enrollment discount off the total price of this amazing trip, and take longer time to make payments if you register this school year.  See Mrs. Cox or Mr. Ryan in guidance for more information and for the trip application. 

 

Sports

 

The Marist varsity track and field Team traveled on Tuesday night to Marian Catholic to take on Joliet Catholic Academy, Nazareth Academy, St. Patrick, and host Marian Catholic. The RedHawks had a BIG day at Martian Catholic. Marist Junior Anthony Johnson, Freshman Sam McNamara, Freshman Jake Phillips, and Freshman Luke Bruin won the Varsity 4x800m Relay. Marist Senior Andres Castillo won the 3200m run. Marist Sophomore Nick Coccaro won the Varsity 100m dash. Marist Sophomore Josiah Harris won the 300m Hurdles. Marist Senior Lucas Pennix and Sophomore Tommy Kavanaugh finished 1-2 in the Varsity 1600m run. Freshman Michael Coy won the Varsity 200m dash. Marist Senior Eric Teverbaugh finished in second place in the High Jump. Marist Junior Anthony Johnson, Freshman Sam McNamara, Senior Lucas Pennix, and Freshman Brendan Geary won the Varsity 4x400m Relay. The RedHawks will travel to Brother Rice on Thursday for Rice Relays!

 

Congratulations to girls’ lacrosse with their sweep of conference opponent Marian Catholic. The JV had a shut out of 18-0.  The Varsity score was 9-4 behind the offensive efforts of Emily Moran who was the Player of the Game.  The varsity is still undefeated in conference and their overall record is now 7-1 on the year. We also want to congratulate senior captains Cece Schickel and Mackenzie Zions with their college signing this morning.  Cece will play for Carthage and Mackenzie will be playing for St. Ambrose.  Both ladies are going to major in nursing.

Can't stop flossing? Is Watch Me "Nae Nae" your jam? Do you think you have the "right" moves?  Those interested in dance should join Poms!  Poms tryouts for the 2019-2020 school year will be held on Thursday, April 25th at 5pm.  Prior to tryouts, you must complete the Google Form which can be found on the Marist Poms Twitter page and register on the 8 to 18 website.  If you have any questions, please see Coach Placas in room 210.
