ATTENTION SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS and SENIORS… YEARBOOKS ARE IN!! If you or your parents pre-ordered a yearbook last year, stop by Champagnat Square today after school to pick it up. The books are already paid for, so all you need is your ID. Not sure if you ordered one? Stop by anyway and Deacon Andy will check his list!

Are you interested in going to Washington, DC to support the causes of Life? The Marist Pro-Life/Pro-Love Club is having a meeting on Thursday after school in MH 14. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Lesher.

ATTENTION JUNIORS… feeling a little stressed out yet? If so, then it’s time to sign up for the first Junior Retreat of the year,  it’s on Monday, October 21, a day when we will get away from it all for the whole day. See Deacon Andy for they details and a permission form. You won’t regret it!

Clubs

The chess team will have a meeting today at 3PM in the ARC.  New members are always welcome.

Do you enjoy trivia?  If so, then join the Academic Team Tuesday after school in room 107. Students from all grade levels are welcome. The team is looking for new freshmen and sophomores to join.

Calling all chefs! Bring your permission forms and money this Wednesday, September 25th at 3:00pm to MH21. Still interested? Stop by the meeting and pick up a form.

The Speech and Acting Team will host its second annual Little RedHawk Reading Club this Thursday. The team will read to local area grade school children and perform the book The Day the Crayons Came Home. If you are interested in participating in the event, come to a mandatory rehearsal right after school in Room 128 on Wednesday, September 25.

The Speech and Acting Team will also have an informational parent meeting at 6:30 PM in Room 128 on Wednesday, September 25. Practices begin Monday, September 30. See Ms. Paoletti or Mr. Distasio with any questions. 

Sports

The Marist varsity cross country team traveled to Peoria on Saturday to take on a field of 64 high schools at Detweiller Park. The RedHawks posted 39 victories, including a 138 point victory over the top ranked Team (Shepard) in the IHSA Regional. Marist Senior Thomas Leonard earned a Medal with an outstanding three miles time of 15:16.6. Sophomore Jake Phillips finished second for the RedHawks with a personal best time of 16:40.7. Junior Kevin Bugos finished third for the RedHawks with a personal best time of 16:44.4. Sophomore Andrew Kerlin finished fourth for the RedHawks with a personal best time of 16:52.9. Sophomore Brendan Geary finished fifth for the RedHawks to complete the scoring with an outstanding time of 16:59.8. Senior Caleb Davis ran a personal best time of 17:02.9. Senior Luke Hortsman ran a personal best time of 17:07.9. Junior Jonathan Rivera ran a personal best time of 17:44.1. Junior Tommy Kavanaugh ran an outstanding time of 18:07.2.

On Saturday, the girls’ cross country team traveled to Peoria to race in the Notre Dame Invitational.  The varsity secured 21 victories in the meet with numerous personal bests.  Amanda Tracy was our top finisher with a time of 19:58.  Lilly Roche ran a season best 20:54, with Nora McNicholas right behind with a 20:52.  Personal best times were establish by Maddie Langford (20:53), Sarah Hughes (21:27) and Maggie Donegan (23:02).  The team will race a Tinley Park next weekend.

The RedHawks, joined by Br. Rich Grenier, traveled to the University of Notre Dame this weekend for exciting hockey action! Your varsity RedHawks faced some stiff competition culminating with a big 6-2 victory over Brother Rice on Sunday! The JV RedHawks played outstanding with victories over Deerfield and Hinsdale Central! Catholic league play starts this Saturday at home versus Br. Rice at Morgan Park! Go RedHawks!    

Congratulations to our head baseball coach Kevin Sefcik who will be inducted into the Andrew High School Athletic Hall of Fame tonight!
