Marist welcomes new teachers

IMG_1159Marist High School welcomed eight new teachers to the faculty for the 2019-2020 school. They were introduced to their colleagues during a meeting on Monday, August 19.

Janlyn Auld will serve as the curriculum coordinator for the World Language Department. Auld earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and master’s degree in education from Illinois State University. She also holds a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Governors State University. An experienced Catholic school educator, she will teach as well as lead the department.

Stephanie Calderon is excited to teach in Marist’s Monastery Hall. She even came to school during the summer for training on the science wing’s new software. She has a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and master’s degree from North Park University.

Alicia Demos will also join the World Language Department. Demos holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Spanish linguistics and second language acquisition. She enjoys hiking and ice skating and is excited to join the Marist community.

Drew Dudgeon will teach in the Social Studies Department. He earned his Bachelor of Science in secondary education and history from Marquette University. He will teach academic western civilization, U.S. history, and geography. Dudgeon has a special connection to Marist as his wife, Amy, is a 2007 graduate of the school.

Patrick Keelan returns to Marist after graduating from here in 2004. He will serve as the assistant band director. Keelan earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and a master’s from Northern Illinois University. Both are in music. He’s an outdoorsman who loves spending time with his wife and daughter.

Anne Lotito returns to Marist after taking time off to be home with her three sons. Marist is happy to have her back in the Math Department. She earned her Bachelor of Science in information systems and a Master of Arts in math education from DePaul University.

Jan Maratea brings her faith and Catholic school teaching experience to the Religious Studies Department. She earned a bachelor’s degree at St. Xavier University and master’s degree from Catholic Theological Union. She enjoys running, spending time with family and friends, and is thrilled to join the Marist family.

Br. Luis Ramos joins Marist fresh from his profession of first vows to the Marist Brothers. He will teach religion. A New York native, he’s excited to get to know Chicago. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y.
