Lent 2016

Students and faculty entered the season of Lent by attending Ash Wednesday services in the Brothers' Chapel. Students and teachers talked about the three pillars of Lent: fasting, almsgiving, and prayer. They talked about why as Catholics we partake in those practices.

The students also reflected on what it means to be Marist in the season of Lent, and the prayer service included the lighting of five candles representing the five pillars of Marist. Students were asked to think about how they live out those pillars.

Marist Pillars: Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work, In the Way of Mary

During Lent, meat will not be served in the cafeteria on Ash Wednesday or Fridays. Mass will be celebrated each Thursday morning at 7:10am in the chapel: All are welcome! Holy Week Mass will be held on March 21. Service opportunities are also available through campus ministry. Reconciliation will also be offered on three Thursdays in Lent. On Thursday, February 17, Fr. Frank Krucz from St. Cajetan Parish will be in the Chapel hearing confessions during Period C and D. Fr. Ed Barrett from St. Terrence takes over for Periods E-H.
