Marist's Pro-Life/Pro-Love Club is sponsoring Life Week January 19 to 23. The group's goal is to raise awareness for the various aspects of life that are often overlooked, underappreciated, and undervalued. By simply being human we all have an inherent dignity and worth, so we seek to support life in all stages from the womb to our earthly end. Often what prevents this is fear, which leads to seeing others as “less than.”
Each day this week, the all-school prayer will focus on a particular life issue. The group is also promoting a diaper drive and participation in the local March for Life Chicago.
Diaper Drive: Diapers of all sizes are needed and will be donated to local pregnancy centers. There are collection boxes available in the Beeson Science Center’s collaboration lounge, Champagnat Square, and outside the Student Life Office. Please bring them in by Friday, January 22. Families who prefer to purchase them online can find information here.
March for Life: March for Life Chicago will take place on Saturday, January 23 at 12 p.m. In a normal year, there would be a group of 20 Marist students making a pilgrimage to Washington, D.C. for the annual March for Life. Unfortunately, we are unable to do that this year, so our efforts will be focused more locally for marching. The Marist group marches to be a voice for those who do not have one. There will be a car procession starting at St. John Cantius Church, moving through downtown Chicago, and ending at the Southside Pregnancy Center in Evergreen Park. Details about the procession are available here. Registration is requested.
