Marist High School will participate in the spirit of the National School Walkout by holding a student-led assembly that focuses on a prayerful response to the gun violence affecting young people. The victims of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., will be memorialized and we will pray for peace in our homes, community, and country.
Additionally, during lunch mods students will have the opportunity to sign letters to Senators Duckworth and Durbin urging them to work towards sensible gun legislation as called for by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
As a Catholic school, this issue and event give us the opportunity to respond in faith and use this as a teachable moment.
A letter regarding this event will be sent to parents on March 13 through Naviance.
