Marist High School's World Language Department is hosting 18 students and four chaperones from Colegio Marista La Inmaculada in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 5 to October 14.
The visit is part of Marist Chicago's exchange travel program. Each year Chicago students travel to Italy, France, and Argentina, while students from those countries travel here and live with Marist families. The schools are all sponsored by the Marist Brothers.
During the visit, there social and cultural excursions, including trips to museums and an architecture tour on the Chicago River. The group will also attend classes at Marist Chicago, share information about their culture, and help improve each others' respective language skills.
Other activities include a scavenger hunt through Marist, a soccer match featuring the U.S. versus Argentina, and shopping along the Magnificent Mile.
The exchange program truly makes the world a classroom, as it reveals that learning language is not just about memorizing words, but appreciating culture.
