“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” MLK
He was called a ‘Drum Major for Justice’ because he made a lot of noise and he pointed the way… he led the way… toward civil rights for people who had been pushed aside for generations. He fought the uphill battle for all mankind to be treated equally. He preached the truth of the Gospels. He took the side of the underdog, taking up the cause of garbage men in a labor dispute, when he was violently taken from the fight… and set free.
On this day when we remember Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., perhaps we should renew in ourselves a personal zeal for the things that matter… and a love for all of our brothers and sisters.
