What do you expect?
I wish I could have been there. I wish I could have been there to see the looks on their faces when the magi, the ‘wise’ men, followed that star to see the king and, instead, found a baby. I wish I could have seen the looks on their faces when they looked at the baby and then at their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh... which were suitable gifts for a king, but I’m sure that Mary and Joseph would have preferred that the visitors had brought diapers, baby clothes, and some food.
The wise men came looking for a king and they expected to find nobility, power, and prestige. Instead they found innocence, love, and hope.
As this new year unfolds and you continue to search for Christ in your heart... what do you expect?
