From yesterday’s Gospel... “If anyone comes to me without hating his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple... In the same way, any one of you who does not renounce all his possessions cannot be my disciple.”
All my life I’ve been taught that Jesus’ messages were all about love, kindness, and generosity, so why all the talk about hate now? Does he really want us to hate everyone and everything around us?
Of course not. But he is trying to get our attention because he wants us to know the truth. And the truth is that the love we have for everyone and everything in this life simply does not even come close to... and cannot hold a candle to... the love that God the Father has for us.
God’s love for us surpasses all other loves. Welcome to the Kingdom.
