Marist’s chess team will compete in the IHSA state tournament Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13.
Earlier in the season, the team finished in second place in the competitive Chicago Chess Conference playoffs on January 16. As regular conference competition ended, freshman Shakira Luster finished first overall individually in conference. Christian Gomez ’21 and Imani Hill ’21 finished tied for 12th individually, while Michael Skoda ’21 and Trechelle Williams ’24 finished the season tied for 13th individually.
