Seven Marist wrestlers will compete for the RedHawks at the IWCOA state championship on Saturday, June 26 starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield, Ill.
Jesse Herrera ’23 (117 lbs.), Ghee Rachal ’22 (195 lbs.), Owen Dunlap ’22 (132 lbs.), Tommy Boland ’22 (160 lbs.), and Jacob Liberatore ’23 (170 lbs.) were sectional champs. Peter Marinopoulos ’23 (182 lbs.) and Brandon Weber ’22 (126 lbs.) placed second and fourth at sectionals, respectively. All seven will represent Marist at state. The team initially advanced 13 wrestlers from the state regional to the sectional and these seven emerged from the tough competition at Elmhurst University on June 19.

At the frosh/soph level, Andrew Dado (152), Conor Phelan (160), Michael Maloney (182), Luke Liberatore (220), and Daniel Fontaine (285) advanced to state June 21 and 22.
