Marist senior named Posse Scholar

Marist_Joshua_PeraltaMarist High School is proud to announce senior Joshua Peralta has received the prestigious Posse Scholarship. He will attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor next fall on a full scholarship and will major in engineering.

Peralta is a graduate of St. Catherine of Alexandria and was recommended for the program by the Marist Guidance Department staff. The application process started in the summer of 2018 with a written submission. Three rounds of interviews followed, and Peralta was notified of his award in late December 2018. Applicants select the top five schools from the list of Posse partners and the foundation then matches recipients to the school that best meets their interests and abilities.

Peralta is a 2018 Illinois State Scholar. Along with a primarily Advanced Placement course load, he has been a member of the math and academic teams, Spanish National Honor Society, and National Honor Society. He has participated in soccer and the Kairos retreat program. He is a student ambassador officer and the vice-president of Students Against Destructive Decisions.

The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and trains individuals with extraordinary leadership potential. Posse Scholars receive full-tuition leadership scholarships from Posse’s partner colleges and universities.

There are nearly 8,500 scholars and alumni in the foundation’s network. They are recruited from 10 U.S. cities and attend 57 partner colleges and universities.
