Student achieves Eagle Scout status
Marist 2019 graduate George Madaras recently completed his Eagle Scout project and participated in the Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony on Sunday, June 2 at St. Alexander where his rank became official.
Madaras has been in the Scouts program since fifth grade. He is a member of Troop 337 out of St. Alexander in Palos Heights. For his project, he oversaw the demolition of an existing storage shed on the parish property. It had become moldy and waterlogged. He then led the team in laying a new cement slab and building a new secure shed.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in the Boy Scout program. Requirements include the achievement of many merit badges, an attitude that reflects the Boy Scout oath, service, and leadership. Eagle Scouts must also complete a service project that benefits a community, school or religious organization.
