Br. Rick Carey Returns to Marist

Br._RickFormer Marist High School Chicago President Br. Rick Carey, FMS has joined the school’s Advancement Office, serving as a planned giving coordinator and  major gift officer

Br. Rick, who is also a 1976 alum of the school, served as president of Marist Chicago from 1999 to 2008, leading the school through its transition to coeducation and multiple campus improvements. He has served the Brothers at schools across the country in administrative, teaching, and coaching roles. Most recently, he worked in Italy on international project development and child rights advocacy for the Marist Foundation for International Solidarity. In July, he began his role at his alma mater. As a major gift officer, he will build relationships with alumni, parents, and friends to ensure the school’s continued growth. Additionally, he will design a planned giving program for the school, which will encourage supporters to include Marist in their estate planning.

“We are thrilled to have Br. Rick back with us on campus,” newly-appointed President Larry Tucker ’79 said. “He has a deep connection to so many in the community, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team, and offers the unmatched value of having a Brother in the building.”

Catholic education faces increasing challenges in order to keep tuition attainable, while investing in the future and in campus and curriculum initiatives. The work of the advancement team is critical in ensuring long-term financial stability. The department oversees annual, planned, and major giving, capital campaigns, alumni and parent relations, stewardship, and other efforts.

Send a note of welcome to Br. Rick.
