Driver Education

Summer driver education information and registration will be posted in the spring. Please check back then.

Marist High School works in conjunction with the Chicago Public School Driver Education program at Bogan High School by making classroom instruction available to our student body here at Marist. Driver Education is taught by an instructor from Chicago Public Schools and the class is not a part of Marist’s curriculum. Classroom instruction is made available at Marist High School as a convenience to our student body throughout the year. Starting dates of each class are posted once they are made known to us by CPS.

Students should be prepared to meet Monday through Friday for six weeks; however, the exact schedule will be set by the instructor on the first day of class. During the school year, classes begin at 2:30pm and end at 4:00pm. Students must attend each class to meet state requirements for classroom instruction. Students who are involved in after school extracurricular activities can only take a class that coordinates with their team or club responsibilities. Students must be 15 years of age prior to beginning date of each class. Seniors, juniors, and sophomores will be given preference. Freshmen cannot enroll in the class until second semester.

The costs for the program are as follows:

Classroom fee – $50.00-Paid online below

State of Illinois Driving Permit – $20

Range Simulation – $50

Driver Education Coordinator
Mr. Don Pirkle '77
Dean of Underclassmen

No phone calls will be taken. Students should see Mr. Pirkle in person.
