Press Release about Dr. Emily Edlynn:
SANGER, Calif., September 5, 2023 – In this era of intensive parenting and unprecedented stress impacting family life, parents and their children are more stressed and anxious than ever. The typical parenting advice pushes parents in exactly the wrong direction–to do more. This despite an abundance of science suggesting the dangers–for both parents and children–of a culture that continues to promote increasingly intensive parenting. Enter Emily Edlynn’s book Autonomy Supportive Parenting: Reduce Parental Burnout and Raise Competent, Confident Children with independent publisher Familius. As a clinical psychologist and mother of three, Dr. Edlynn offers a refreshing and wholly science-backed approach that teaches parents why they should do less for their kids, how they can, and how it benefits everyone.
Autonomy-Supportive Parenting is the roadmap every smart but overwhelmed parent needs. This book breaks down parenting science’s best-kept secret about how to raise competent, confident, and connected kids with a set of research-tested strategies–without losing your mind. Written as a guide for each parenting season from early childhood to school age and adolescence, parents can zero in on the dilemma of the day whether it’s tablet tantrums or homework hassles. Dr. Edlynn offers guidance from the autonomy-supportive framework to help even the most stressed and worried parent face any parenting problem with calm and confidence. The result is raising children who not only feel understood, accepted, and loved, but self-sufficient and in charge of their lives and themselves.
