Liam Duignan '17 placed among the top seven students in Chicagoland on the National French Contest and has been awarded the Alliance Française McCormick Award to study in Paris this summer.
Every year the Chicago chapter of the Alliance Française sends two Chicagoland seniors on an all-expense paid trip to Paris to study French culture in France. The award committee selects candidates based on their performance on the National French Contest and extensive in-person interviews conducted in French.
The award includes roundtrip airfare, lodging, and university fees. In Paris, participants study at the Université de la Sorbonne where they take French language and civilization courses for the month of July. They are lodged in a dorm for international students near the campus and receive a stipend for living expenses during the program. They also have access to all the renowned museums and cultural attractions in the city.
Duignan also tested at the top of the National Italian Exam this spring.
