The Hermitage Society
Class of 1974
As the Class of 1974 celebrates their 50th anniversary, Mr. Tom Coyle ’74, calls at least 25 grads from 1974 to join him and place Marist in their estate.
We are asking the class of 1974 to follow the lead of St. Marcellin Champagnat and the Marist Brothers by making a planned giving commitment as a way to strengthen the Foundation for Our Future, like the Marist Brothers, brick by brick, gift by gift.
Dedicated to Giving Back
A Marist education is becoming increasingly difficult for many families to afford.
Average annual income in 1963, the year Marist opened, was $7,500 with tuition set at $350. That represented 4.7% of annual income versus today’s, with tuition set at $14,800, representing 18% of annual income.
How can YOU help?
A formal planned giving program at Marist High School, called The Hermitage Society, is being established starting June of 2024. The name pays homage to St. Marcellin Champagnat, and the founding brothers who built the Hermitage Monastery in France during the early years of the order. It was built by hand and still stands to this day.
Founding Membership of the Hermitage Society
During the first year of the program, Marist is creating the “Founding Membership of the Hermitage Society.” Those individuals and families that understand the many challenges facing Marist, the need for long-term financial security, and who want to leave a legacy that promotes a Marist education, will be forever recognized as the founding members of the Hermitage Society.
Long-term planned gifts will be the foundation by which Marist can continue its mission on the Southside of Chicago for all families wishing to become part of the Marist Family.
Thank you in advance for your support!
The “button “Hermitage Society” button below will bring you to a document that includes a description of the Hermitage Society, a Codicil document for those that have already established a trust. Forms detail the wishes, plans, and instructions the donor is setting for Marist acknowledgement. The form may be downloaded and mailed to Marist, or you may use the online form option.
