Marist Students Travel to D.C. for Amor Vitae Pilgrimage

Students and faculty from Marist traveled to Washington, D.C. on the Amor Vitae Pilgrimage to take part in the annual March for Life. They joined thousands from across the country in a peaceful and prayerful witness to the dignity and sanctity of human life. For Marist students, the experience was not only an opportunity to advocate for life, but also a meaningful extension of the school’s Catholic identity and commitment to faith in action. The March for Life route begins on the National Mall and proceeds past the U.S. Capitol, ending at the Supreme Court.

“The Amor Vitae Pilgrimage this year was truly an amazing experience. This was my second time attending, and it continues to be such a meaningful and impactful trip. There is so much to see, learn, and appreciate in Washington, D.C. I really enjoyed participating in the March for Life. It was wonderful to see so many people come together with one shared mission which was to celebrate life. I also loved meeting new people from other schools across the country. I am so grateful that Amor Vitae is able to offer this pilgrimage each year. Being a part of Amor Vitae for the past four years has been such a blessing. I love all the fundraising and service we do to support and give back to the community each year.” -Claire Vitellaro ’26

“To me, the trip is a great reminder to be “unconditionally pro-life”.  We need to stand against death, hatred, racism, discrimination and anything else that belittles the human dignity of every person.” -Ms. Theresa Coy, Marist teacher & chaperone

Along with attending the March for Life, the group did some sightseeing in Washington D.C. touring various monuments, the Holocaust Museum, and National Museum of African American History. They also visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and prayed the Labyrinth in Georgetown.

Our presence at the March for Life showed solidarity with students from across the country and people of all ages in supporting life in all forms. The 3 day experience was powerful personally in the exploration of the monuments, Smithsonian museums, March for Life, and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception where our faith and freedoms were so apparent. The Pilgrimage reinforced the importance of life, love and peace and the call to continue the work to spread these liberties.” -Ms. Megan Coffey, Marist campus minister & chaperone

“It was awesome to see all the different Catholic Schools that showed up for the March for Life, there were people from all over the country that came together for this makes me think of the beauty of Christ’s Church and how there are faithful all over the country and the world.” -Mr. Hayden Renier, Marist teacher & chaperone
