Student Drivers

Marist High School works in conjunction with the Chicago Public School Driver Education Program at Bogan High School by making classroom instruction available to our student body here at Marist.  Driver Education is taught by an instructor from Chicago Public Schools and the class is not part of Marist’s curriculum.  Classroom instruction is made available at Marist High School as a convenience to our student body throughout the school year.

Marist High School will offer 3 sessions of classroom instruction in Driver Education during the summer of 2025. Dates and times are listed below:

July 9 – July 31, 2025                                                                                                                        Session 1 – 11:00 am – 12:30 pm – CLOSED                                           

Session 2 – 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm

Session 3 –  2:00 pm – 3:30 pm                                  

Students should be prepared to meet Monday through Thursday.  Students must attend each class to meet the state requirements for classroom instruction.  The exact schedule will be set by the instructor on the first day of class.  Students must be 15 years of age prior to the beginning of each classroom session. 

Students must also be in good standing in the Dean’s Office with regards to academics, attendance and discipline.  Enrollment in the class will be on a first come, first served basis.  Approval of all applications will be made by Mr. Pirkle, Dean of Students, Underclassmen.

The costs for the program are as follows:

Driver’s Ed Course

$80 payable to Marist High School, online payment with registration

State of Illinois Driving Permit

$20 check to Secretary of State to be paid during class when requested by instructor

Range Simulation – Bogan High School

$50 E-pay to Chicago Public Schools to be paid during class, when signing up for BTW.

Each session with be capped at 30 students.  Approval of all applications will be made by Mr. Pirkle, Dean of Students, Underclassmen.
