World Languages for Spanish Speakers

Is Spanish already spoken at home? Why not enroll your child in the Italian or French class? Or if you prefer, why not consider a Spanish class for Spanish speakers?

Marist High School offers a class for students considered to be “Heritage Speakers” whose families speak Spanish. An aptitude test is required to enroll in Spanish-speaking classes. No test is needed if you choose to enroll in Italian or French classes.

Heritage Speaker Placement exam dates and times:

  • Thursday, March 23 – 3:30pm-4:30pm
  • Saturday, March 25 – 10:00am-11:00am

Please enter through the main office entrance at the west end of the building.

Math

Students admitted to the class of 2027 are encouraged to complete an additional math placement exam which is designed and corrected by our Math Department faculty members. This test will cover basic math through Algebra 1 and will provide us additional data in placing your child.

If your math placement indicated “to be determined” you are required to take this exam.

The exam will last approximately 90 minutes and students will need a pencil and a pen. No calculator needed.

Math placement exam dates:

  • Weekdays: March 21, March 22, and March 23
  • Time: 3:30pm-5:00pm
  • Students can start arriving at 3:15pm to the Main Office Entrance. The test begins promptly at 3:30pm. If a student finishes earlier than 5pm, they can leave.
  • Weekend date: Saturday, March 25
  • Time: 8:30am-10:00am
  • Students can start arriving at 8am to the Main Office Entrance. The test begins promptly at 8:30am. If a student finishes earlier than 10am, they can leave.
