Marist students and faculty members made a pilgrimage to Washington D.C. to participate in the annual National March for Life parade! This is the first time Marist has participated since COVID and the trip was an exciting, prayer filled weekend.
Thursday, January 23
The group landed in Washington D.C. and began their day of sightseeing which included visited the Holocaust Museum, a night tour of the National Monuments such as the Lincoln memorial, Washington Memorial and Jefferson Memorial. They ended their evening with a reflection at the hotel.

Friday, January 24
The group participated in the National March for Life! After a long day, they did the Labyrinth-Reflection at the hotel.

Saturday, January 25
They visited Arlington National Cemetery, Ford’s Theatre, Smithsonian’s Museum of American History. Then they attended mass at St Patrick’s Church.

Sunday, January 26
On the final day of their trip, Marist visited the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Then the group visited the Franciscan Monastery which has replicas of the Holy Land before heading to the airport to travel home.
The pilgrimage was focused on several Pro-Life concerns like how we treat each other, protecting and supporting all aspects of life, and trying to engage with others to see them as fellow human beings and not as less than. Throughout the pilgrimage, we had plenty of conversations with each other, even conversations where we respectfully disagreed with each other. We learned about each other and developed a community with each other. These are our goals for Marist and the wider world. -Mr. Chris Lesher
We’re so thankful our RedHawks had this great experience!
