Apr 14, 2026 | Alumni & Donors, Marist Community

Kevin Hughes, class of 1985, has deep roots in the Marist community spanning two generations. Kevin, his four brothers and numerous cousins are all proud alums who started the Hughes family legacy back in the 1980s. Kevin’s four children, Kelly ’22, Colleen ’20, Daniel ’18, and Maggie ’15, and many of Kevin’s nieces and nephews have continued to carry out the Hughes family legacy.

During his years as a student at Marist, Kevin was a member of the student council, an active participant in Marist’s intramural program, a senior service student and an active participant in many Marist traditions including the annual Walk-a-thon. Kevin credits the Marist Brothers and the Marist faculty with helping to shape who he is today, instilling in him the values of faith, family, service, and kindness. The friendships that Kevin built during his four years at Marist remain some of the most meaningful relationships in his life.

Today, Kevin remains deeply committed to giving back to the Marist community that has given him so much. He has played an active role in many Marist initiatives including: the Southside Summer Festival, the 50th & 60th Anniversary Gala Committees, past president of the Alumni Association, and numerous class reunions. Kevin also serves as Director of the Coach Roche Scholarship Foundation, helping to ensure that future generations of young men and women have access to both a Marist education and a college education.

Reflecting on his lifelong connection to the school, Kevin shares, “Marist has always been family to me. I’m very proud to say I’m from Marist.”

For his enduring commitment, generosity, and dedication to the Marist mission, it is truly an honor to recognize Kevin Hughes, class of 1985, as the 2026 Red Jacket honoree.
