Marist Junior Helena Klooster Finishes as IHSA State Runner-Up in Girls Tennis
CHICAGO — Marist High School junior Helena Klooster ’27, a graduate of Cardinal Joseph Bernardin School and resident of Orland Park, Illinois, capped an outstanding season by finishing second in the state at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Girls Tennis State Championships. Competing at first singles, Helena posted an impressive 30–1 overall record for the season.
Her stellar year included several top finishes:
- IHSA 2nd Place State Medalist
- Lockport Invitational – 1st Place
- Lincoln-Way West Invitational – 1st Place
- ESCC Tournament – 1st Place
- IHSA Sectionals – 1st Place
- ESCC Singles Player of the Year (2025)
Earlier this year, Helena also won a USTA Level 4 National Tournament in Glenbrook, further establishing herself as one of the premier high school tennis players in Illinois.
“Helena’s work ethic, composure, and competitive spirit are remarkable,” said Marist head coach Brian Burns. “She represents the best of what it means to be a RedHawk; dedicated, humble, and driven to excel both on and off the court.”
With one year still remaining in her high school career, Helena continues to set the bar high for Marist Tennis and looks poised for even greater success ahead.
