The Marist Math team placed first overall at the 2026 ICTM Regional Math Competition at Crete Monee High School, qualifying the team for the State Competition in April.

Marist students took first place in the team written competitions for Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, PreCalculus, Junior Senior 8, Frosh Soph 8, Frosh Soph 2, and Junior Senior 2. Of the 9 competitions of the day, Marist placed 1st in 8 of the 9!

Individually, the #1 students in the competition were all Marist students:

  • Freshman: Ava Krueger (Mount Greenwood School)
  • Sophomore: Fanchu Sun (St. Gerald School)
  • Junior/Kenny Dewes (St. Catherine)
  • Seniors/Tied for first – Ryan Deskovich (St. Christina) and Paul Dubiel (Oak Lawn-Hometown)
In the newly released State rankings, Marist is 5th overall and the #1 Catholic School in the state of Illinois. In fact, at the 3AA and 4AA levels, Marist is the only Catholic school to qualify for state.
We are so proud of the Marist Math Team, led by Mr. Owen Glennon and Mr. Jeff Nicholson ’81! They will head down to Illinois State University for the State competition on Saturday, April 18th. Let’s go, RedHawks!
