Dual Paths in Service and Aviation
Lukasz Bokun ’07 has built a dual career that reflects both service and passion: he flies for the Air National Guard while also serving as a First Officer with Southwest Airlines.
After graduating from Marist, Lukasz initially pursued a career in investment banking, but soon realized his lifelong dream was to be in the cockpit. In 2015, he was selected to attend Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training, where he trained on the C-130 Hercules. His commitment to service led to his first deployment in Kuwait, an experience that shaped his path as a military aviator.
Following his return, Lukasz transitioned into commercial aviation, joining SkyWest Airlines as a regional jet pilot based out of Chicago O’Hare (ORD). His dedication and skill opened new doors, and in 2023, he was hired by Southwest Airlines, where he now flies the Boeing 737 out of Chicago Midway (MDW).
In addition to his commercial aviation career, Lukasz continues to serve his country. In 2024, he deployed once again, this time to Djibouti, and remains an active pilot in the Air National Guard. His dual role allows him to live out his passion for flying while making a lasting impact through both service and leadership in aviation.
