Marist Voted #1 Private School in the Southland

Marist High School is proud to be named the #1 Private School in the Southland by Chicago Tribune. This honor reflects our mission to prepare students for higher learning and lifelong success through faith, family, and future-focused academics.

Students from 85 zip codes and 210 places of worship make up our diverse and dynamic learning community. Academic excellence is central to the RedHawk experience, with 23 AP courses, 12 dual credit classes, and a new Academic Resource Center focused on college and career readiness. In 2024, 380 students earned a score of 3 or higher on their AP exams. Marist was recognized by the College Board with a Silver Distinction and the AP Access Award for expanding AP opportunities for all learners.

The Class of 2025 includes 55 Illinois State Scholars, two National Merit Finalists, a perfect ACT score, College Board awardees, and certified EMT graduates. Our students will attend top universities, join trade unions, and serve in the armed forces.

RedHawk athletes continue to earn state, national, and international recognition. Recent accomplishments include state championships in boys and girls volleyball, cheer, and individual wrestling. Forty-five seniors have committed to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Outside the classroom, students serve with purpose, travel internationally, perform in acclaimed theater productions, and earn honors in media and writing, including 15 Letters About Literature winners and multiple journalism awards.

Recent facility upgrades include an Entrepreneurship Center, broadcasting studio, 10-classroom science wing with a planetarium, and a 75,000 sq. ft. indoor athletic complex, reflecting our commitment to the full student experience. At Marist, students are challenged, supported, and inspired to lead in the classroom, on the field, and in life.
