Dr. Richard Byrne ’83 is a distinguished neurosurgeon with more than 25 years of surgical experience and a legacy of leadership in academic medicine. In April 2024, he joined Mayo Clinic Florida as the Chair of the Department of Neurologic Surgery, where he leads a team focused on excellence in patient care, research, and surgical innovation.
Before joining Mayo Clinic, Dr. Byrne served for 18 years as Chairman and Medical Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
